Maalstroom is a group of musicians, based in Holland, from a mix of european countries who celebrate their varied tastes by bringing together sounds and styles from the corners of the continent. Under the direction of Michel Duijves (The Crazy Clarinettist) they have developed a unique sound with a flavour all of its own. If we mention the fact that Brian Finnegan, the main man of FLOOK was an original member, then you get an idea of the quality of music that will be on offer. The combination of great musicianship , influences from many parts of Europe with particular emphasis on Irish & Dutch traditions and a great audience rapport make this band both accessible and unique. With their 3rd album currently being prepared for release in January 2008, they are looking for UK concert dates in late April early May 2008 and are available for Summer festivals. Music & dance workshops also available. Play: The Spotter/Sven's Race Maalstroom have a wonderful combination of Celtic and Dutch music styles (clarinet, flute, bouzouki, guitar, fiddle, bodhran & vocals) that never fails to impress.
